Timing chain stabilizer VAG 059109514C

Description:

Timing chain stabilizer 059109514C VAG is a drive element of the gas distribution mechanism, designed to dampen chain oscillations. Chain vibrations can occur due to uneven rotation of the crankshaft and camshafts, as well as due to the influence of various factors, such as engine vibration and shock loads.

Timing chain stabilizers are of two main types:

• Spring - the basis of which is a spring that dampens chain oscillations due to elasticity. Spring tranquilizers are the most common.
• Hydrodynamic - based on an oil cavity that dampens chain oscillations due to the action of centrifugal forces. Hydrodynamic stabilizers provide more effective vibration damping than spring dampers, but they are also more expensive and more difficult to manufacture.

Tranquilizers have different sizes, which depend on the type of engine and its design. They are made of steel, aluminum or plastic. Steel tranquilizers are the strongest, but they are also the heaviest. Aluminum ones are lighter, but they are less strong. Plastic pacifiers are the lightest, but they are also short-lived.

Additional Information:

Timing chain stabilizers should be checked regularly for wear. A worn stabilizer can lead to premature wear of the timing chain and other elements of the timing drive. Therefore, it is recommended to check them every 100,000 km.

Signs of wear of the timing chain stabilizer:

• Noise and vibration in the engine compartment
• Deterioration of the car's dynamic characteristics
• Increase in fuel consumption
• Uneven engine operation

If you notice any of these signs, it is necessary to contact a car service as soon as possible to diagnose the timing chain stabilizer.
