Description:
Thermostat 60V1241100 YAMAHA is a device that regulates the temperature of the cooling liquid in the engine cooling system. It is located between the cylinder block and the radiator.
The thermostat has a valve that opens and closes depending on the temperature. When the temperature of the coolant is below the set point, the thermostat valve is closed, and the coolant circulates only in a small circle, bypassing the radiator. This allows the engine to warm up to operating temperature faster. When the temperature of the coolant reaches the set temperature, the valve opens and the coolant begins to circulate in a large circle through the radiator. This allows you to cool the engine without allowing it to overheat.
The opening temperature of the thermostat valve is usually 80-90 degrees Celsius.
Thermostat malfunctions:
Stopping the valve in the closed position causes the engine to overheat.
Stopping the valve in the open position means that the engine does not heat up to operating temperature.
